What is Wire Wrapping?
Answer: Wire Wrapping is an ancient form
of art believed to originate in Egypt. It's when an artist makes a
creative form using any type of wire. For instance- Jewelry

How long has Jon been wire wrapping?
Answer: Jon has been wire wrapping for
nearly 30 years now.
Question:
How did Jon begin wire wrapping?
Answer: Jon began wire wrapping when he
wanted something more creative to do with the many rocks that he had mined
over the years.
Question:
What type of wire does Jon use to wrapp with?
Answer: Jon uses Soft Sterling Silver
14G,16G,18G,20G,22G, and 24G wires most often. When custom ordered though,
he will use 14k or 18k Gold wires if you choose.
Question:
What types of tools does Jon work with?
Answer: Jon only uses four tools: His
hands, pliers, wire cutters & a mandrel when sizing rings.
Question:
What can Jon make with wire?
Answer: Jon can make jewelry like
pendants, rings and bracelets. He also makes knickknacks once in a while
too though. We call them Freestanding Pieces.
Question:
What is a Freestanding Piece?
Answer: A Freestanding Piece is a rock
that has been wire wrapped in such a form that it will stand on it's own.
Jon will often use Quartz Crystal Clusters with Opals or Watermelon
Tourmaline for these. They can range in size from 1/4" to 4" tall,
depending upon the stone(s) being used.

What is a Pendant?
Answer: A Pendant is a piece of jewelry
that you hang from any chain or other type of necklace. Pendants can range
in size from 1/4" to 6" long or 1/4" to 2" wide, depending upon the
stone(s) being used.
Question:
How does Jon know that his Rings are sized accurately?
Answer: Jon uses a professional grade
steel ring mandrel to size his rings both before and after the ring has
been made. He then pounds them out on the mandrel with a small rubber
mallet, to ensure that the ring does not stretch any farther, except to
conform to your finger.
Question:
What does Jon base his pricing on?
Answer: Jon prices his items according to
the following:
*How much the stone(s) being used in the piece has cost
him.
*How much wire he has put into the piece (The cost of sterling
silver is known to fluctuate quite often).
*How much work and/or time
he has put into the piece.
